A practical checklist for candidates sitting IELTS at a Nigerian test centre.
Documents
- The same passport you used to register. No other ID is accepted.
- Your confirmation email or booking reference.
A mismatch between your registration name and your passport is the most common cause of being turned away.
Timing
- Arrive at least 60 minutes before the reported start time.
- Lagos traffic is the single biggest risk to your test day. Plan for the journey to take twice as long as your usual estimate.
What you may take to your desk
- Passport.
- A transparent water bottle with the label removed.
Everything else — phones, watches, notes, bags — goes into storage. Smart watches are treated as phones.
During the test
- Listening, Reading, and Writing run back-to-back with no breaks.
- Transfer answers as you go; there is no extra transfer time in the computer-delivered format.
- Speaking may be the same day or within seven days of the written test.
After the test
Results are released on the timeline your test centre specifies. If you are retaking, book a consultation before your next attempt so the gap is used deliberately.
